The Gospel of Thomas (also known as the Coptic Gospel of Thomas) is extra to the canonical gospels in the New Testament of the bible. It was discovered near Nag Hammadi, Egypt, in December 1945 among a group of books known as the Nag Hammadi library. Scholars speculate that the works were buried and hidden after the declaration of a strict canon of Christian scripture, where any works that were not selected for inclusion in the new testament were ordered to be destroyed. Scholars have proposed dates of composition as early as 60 AD and as late as 250 AD as a collection of sayings of Jesus.

These are the secret sayings which the living Jesus spoke and which Didymos Judas Thomas wrote down.
Gospel of Thomas Saying 2 - Seek Until You Find
Jesus said, "Let him who seeks continue seeking until he finds. When he finds, he will become troubled. When he becomes troubled, he will be astonished, and he will reign over All.”
"Let him who seeks continue seeking until he finds”
Jesus is saying that his words contain the truths of uncommon knowledge. Such knowledge cannot be fully conveyed in words alone. Therefore, his sayings should not be taken at face value. Endeavour and the will to continue seeking is required to interpret the words of information contained in his sayings to turn them into one’s own knowledge.
“When he finds, he will become troubled”.
If one seeks higher knowledge earnestly enough, then a time will come when a seeker is faced with an unexpected choice. Most people, without being fully aware, have already adopted a set of comfortable beliefs that they rely on to give reason to their lives. To have a higher truth revealed to them causes them to have to let go of their previously held beliefs. For most people “he will become troubled”, profoundly so for some.
As with all seekers after truth, one has to have a love of truth for its own sake as a source of inner strength. Initially, many have to turn back, this is natural and only means a delay for them. But for the brave few this is their time. This means, those that persevere with Jesus' teachings will be challenged by what will be revealed to them. But, if one is able to trust in Jesus although "he will be astonished" , he will find love and support and eventually , "he will reign over All".
