The Gospel of Thomas (also known as the Coptic Gospel of Thomas) is extra to the canonical gospels in the New Testament of the bible. It was discovered near Nag Hammadi, Egypt, in December 1945 among a group of books known as the Nag Hammadi library. Scholars speculate that the works were buried and hidden after the declaration of a strict canon of Christian scripture, where any works that were not selected for inclusion in the new testament were ordered to be destroyed. Scholars have proposed dates of composition as early as 60 AD and as late as 250 AD as a collection of sayings of Jesus.

Our Commentary on Verse 089 of Thomas Gospel.

These are the secret sayings which the living Jesus spoke and which Didymos Judas Thomas wrote down.

Gospel of Thomas saying 89 - no inside no outside.
Jesus said, "Why do you wash the outside of the cup? Do you not realize that he who made the inside is the same one who made the outside?"

“Jesus said, "Why do you wash the outside of the cup?”
Jesus’ shows his divine consciousness through the lack of delusion in his vision.
Of course, in the conscious experience of having being born into a world made with time and dimensions a person’s concerns with the duality of this and that, and inside and outside, are a natural part of the material experience they originally desired.
But, here Jesus reveals his constant awareness of the singularity of existence.
Observing the perfectly normal routine of washing a cup Jesus sees the ultimate unreality of duality.

“Do you not realize that he who made the inside is the same one who made the outside?"
This is the simple purpose of Jesus’ question. The person washing the cup would be mystified by such a question, because cups do need washing all over.
There are not two. Nothing has ever come into existence, and nothing can ever leave. There is nowhere else that exists. There are not two existences.
The singularity of existence is Absolutely all knowledge which forms Absolut Consciousness.
Back to the cup and non-duality. The cup was made manifest from absolute knowledge and is maintained in consciousness. Jesus is trying to produce the realisation of non-duality “Do you not realize”

The Absolute or God alone is this one existence “he who made the inside is the same one who made the outside.” God alone exists. From absolute knowledge all else only appears, in consciousness to exist.
In truth there is no inside or outside because that is a duality.
There is no up nor down, there are no opposites, there is no duality.
All of this (existence) is maintained by “the same one who made…” the appearance of all else. The one is the Absolute or God.
This should be realised.
