The Gospel of Thomas (also known as the Coptic Gospel of Thomas) is extra to the canonical gospels in the New Testament of the bible. It was discovered near Nag Hammadi, Egypt, in December 1945 among a group of books known as the Nag Hammadi library. Scholars speculate that the works were buried and hidden after the declaration of a strict canon of Christian scripture, where any works that were not selected for inclusion in the new testament were ordered to be destroyed. Scholars have proposed dates of composition as early as 60 AD and as late as 250 AD as a collection of sayings of Jesus.

Our Commentary on Verse 99 of Thomas Gospel.

These are the secret sayings which the living Jesus spoke and which Didymos Judas Thomas wrote down.

Gospel of Thomas Saying 99 - Jesus' true family.
The disciples said to him, "Your brothers and your mother are standing outside.”
He said to them, "Those here who do the will of my father are my brothers and my mother. It is they who will enter the kingdom of my father."

The disciples said to him, "Your brothers and your mother are standing outside.” He said to them, "Those here who do the will of my father are my brothers and my mother.”
Jesus has already told us we are all God’s children. Which means we are all brothers, sisters, mothers and all family in the knowledge and consciousness of the father, the Absolute. Where the flesh is concerned, none of that is our true being, be it the body of a brother or a mother. the flesh consists of name and form only. Our true being is of the singularity of Absolute knowledge. The appearance of many, and of relations, is the illusion of duality. Jesus is teaching that it is not name and form which unites us, It is in the knowledge of the father or the Absolute that we are one. non-dual.
No doubt Jesus’ declaration was made as a teacher seizing the situation as an opportunity for a lesson.
The meaning is, to return home to unity with the Father, or Absolute or God you have to be close to the teachings of Jesus concerning the reality of the “kingdom of my father."

“It is they who will enter the kingdom of my father."
This means, we have to have heard what Jesus teaches, we have to have made his knowledge our own by assimilating it and understanding it, so that it becomes our own understanding.
This is important in practical terms. One won’t get into the kingdom through being judged to love or be a relation of Jesus. There is no such judgment. Those who are worthy will have the knowledge Jesus gave them to find their own way.
The only way back home is to gain the conscious realisation of the unreality of this material world and the realisation, and the desire to return to the one true existence of God or the Absolute.
This is because, this consciousness will be all we have to guide us after the death of our material form.
