The Gospel of Thomas (also known as the Coptic Gospel of Thomas) is extra to the canonical gospels in the New Testament of the bible. It was discovered near Nag Hammadi, Egypt, in December 1945 among a group of books known as the Nag Hammadi library. Scholars speculate that the works were buried and hidden after the declaration of a strict canon of Christian scripture, where any works that were not selected for inclusion in the new testament were ordered to be destroyed. Scholars have proposed dates of composition as early as 60 AD and as late as 250 AD as a collection of sayings of Jesus.

Our Commentary on Verse 066 of Thomas Gospel.

These are the secret sayings which the living Jesus spoke and which Didymos Judas Thomas wrote down.

Gospel of Thomas Saying 66 - The rejected building stone.
Jesus said, "Show me the stone which the builders have rejected. That one is the cornerstone."

Orthodox religion at the time and place of Jesus was controlled and administered by the scribes and clerics. Using the power of their official positions they interpreted the scriptures and wrote laws to suit their understanding, which was limited by their duality and ambition.
Jesus and his teaching of truth threatened the power of the scribes and priests. These officials were trying to oust Jesus from Israel. So, it is likely Jesus spoke these words in reference to their attempts to reject Jesus as the Messiah of the people Israel.

Jesus said, "Show me the stone which the builders have rejected. That one is the cornerstone.”
The “builders” Jesus refers to were those scribes and priests that constructed the laws and controlled the teaching of the scriptures.
The “stone” they rejected was the teachings of Jesus himself.

"Show me the stone”
Jesus is challenging any of his detractors to produce any of his sayings or sermons that they reject, do not accept, or they disagree with.

"That one is the cornerstone.”
The officials claimed their interpretation of their laws was correct and based on truth. But their understanding of truth was clouded through duality with it ambitions and desires. Such derived truths are unreal and unsustainable. They have no foundation in eternal truth.

Everything that Jesus said is founded in Absolute truth.
Absolute truth is eternal. Such truth exists naturally with the non-dual singularity of timeless existence.
What Jesus taught is the truth from the foundation of eternity. Eternal truth is the “cornerstone.” that supports and outlasts all.
