The Gospel of Thomas (also known as the Coptic Gospel of Thomas) is extra to the canonical gospels in the New Testament of the bible. It was discovered near Nag Hammadi, Egypt, in December 1945 among a group of books known as the Nag Hammadi library. Scholars speculate that the works were buried and hidden after the declaration of a strict canon of Christian scripture, where any works that were not selected for inclusion in the new testament were ordered to be destroyed. Scholars have proposed dates of composition as early as 60 AD and as late as 250 AD as a collection of sayings of Jesus.

Gospel of Thomas saying 83 - Light is hidden by images.
Jesus said, "Images are visible to people, but the light within them remains concealed in the image of the Father's light. He will be disclosed, but his image remains hidden by his light."

“Jesus said, "Images are visible to people”,
Yes, we as people have our senses. Using our eyes and our sense of seeing, light is seen in the form of images.

“but the light within them remains concealed in the image of the Father's light”.
The image of all manifest objects and beings are revealed by light.
But, the light of divine knowledge which makes manifest and supports all objects and beings, “the light within them”, cannot be seen by our eyes. That light of knowledge is the light of Absolute Knowledge or the Father or God.

“He will be disclosed, but his image remains hidden by his light."
The Absolute or God or The Father can be known of through Jesus’ teaching, or by grace “He will be disclosed.”
But, The Absolute or God or The Father Itself, cannot be known or seen. The Absolute or God itself is unknowable.
The Absolute or God or The Father is the light of absolute knowledge that manifests and supports all of existence itself.
That is, All of existence is the divine singularity of Absolute knowledge.
This non-dual singularity cannot be seen because there is no 'other' seer.
Just as an eyeball cannot see itself.
This is a fact of Non-Duality.
