The Gospel of Thomas (also known as the Coptic Gospel of Thomas) is extra to the canonical gospels in the New Testament of the bible. It was discovered near Nag Hammadi, Egypt, in December 1945 among a group of books known as the Nag Hammadi library. Scholars speculate that the works were buried and hidden after the declaration of a strict canon of Christian scripture, where any works that were not selected for inclusion in the new testament were ordered to be destroyed. Scholars have proposed dates of composition as early as 60 AD and as late as 250 AD as a collection of sayings of Jesus.
Our Commentary on Verse 026 of Thomas Gospel.
These are the secret sayings which the living Jesus spoke and which Didymos Judas Thomas wrote down.
Gospel of Thomas saying 26 - The speck and the beam.
Jesus said, "You see the mote in your brother's eye, but you do not see the beam in your own eye. When you cast the beam out of your own eye, then you will see clearly to cast the mote from your brother's eye."
One should not judge other people by the way you see things. You would need to be perfect and sin free to be eligible to judge others. Only the Absolute alone is free from sin.
We may feel better or more righteous than our brother or others but we are sinners and have faults and we know it. Further we also have faults that we are not aware of yet. “but you do not see the beam in your own eye”.
Within this realm of material duality and desire none of us are free from sin. When we achieve the higher consciousness of the Absolute then our sins fall away "When you cast the beam out of your own eye" then you will see how to guide others.
