The Gospel of Thomas (also known as the Coptic Gospel of Thomas) is extra to the canonical gospels in the New Testament of the bible. It was discovered near Nag Hammadi, Egypt, in December 1945 among a group of books known as the Nag Hammadi library. Scholars speculate that the works were buried and hidden after the declaration of a strict canon of Christian scripture, where any works that were not selected for inclusion in the new testament were ordered to be destroyed. Scholars have proposed dates of composition as early as 60 AD and as late as 250 AD as a collection of sayings of Jesus.

Our Commentary on Verse 054 of Thomas Gospel.

These are the secret sayings which the living Jesus spoke and which Didymos Judas Thomas wrote down.

Gospel of Thomas Saying 54 - The poor.
Jesus said, "Blessed are the poor, for yours is the kingdom of heaven."

Jesus said, "Blessed are the poor, for yours is the kingdom of heaven."

This blessing was given by Jesus along with other Beatitudes.
The realisation of non-duality gives the fact that “the kingdom of heaven." or the Divine Absolute is the totality of existence.
Therefore, all of us, rich, poor or sinner belong to the kingdom of heaven. In truth, there is no other (place or existence).
For those that may feel poor, either materially or in spirit, Jesus promises them that nevertheless, “the kingdom of heaven." is already theirs.
As said before, the fact of the non-duality of existence assures our identity with God. This fact only needs to be realised for us to experience this kingdom, this unity.

ref. Luke 6:20, Matt 5:3.
