The Gospel of Thomas (also known as the Coptic Gospel of Thomas) is extra to the canonical gospels in the New Testament of the bible. It was discovered near Nag Hammadi, Egypt, in December 1945 among a group of books known as the Nag Hammadi library. Scholars speculate that the works were buried and hidden after the declaration of a strict canon of Christian scripture, where any works that were not selected for inclusion in the new testament were ordered to be destroyed. Scholars have proposed dates of composition as early as 60 AD and as late as 250 AD as a collection of sayings of Jesus.

Our Commentary on Verse 114 of Thomas Gospel.

These are the secret sayings which the living Jesus spoke and which Didymos Judas Thomas wrote down.

Gospel of Thomas Saying 114 - The duality of male and female doesn't truly exist.
Simon Peter said to him, "Let Mary leave us, for women are not worthy of life". Jesus said, "I myself shall lead her in order to make her male, so that she too may become a living spirit resembling you males. For every woman who will make herself male will enter the kingdom of heaven."

Simon Peter said to him, "Let Mary leave us, for women are not worthy of life.”
Simon Peter thought women were not suited to the lifestyle of the disciples.

Jesus said, "I myself shall lead her in order to make her male,"
Jesus' words are spoken as a lesson in non-duality for the disciples.
Jesus said he will take Mary as his student. This will be in order to lead Mary to the full realisation that she is the singularity of all existence.

What Jesus has undertaken to teach Mary, is the same lesson that Simon Peter and the rest of the disciples need to learn. The disciples need to surrender their worldly identity, their attachment to form, gender and all ideas of duality.

"so that she too may become a living spirit resembling you males."
"spirit" means our true eternal being, in which Mary and the disciples are one and the same. They appear different due to the illusion of their forms.
Our body is not who we are. Our true immortal being is non-dual and is a unity with the Absolute or God.
In   "spirit",  meaning in her true being, as with all of us, Mary is neither male nor female.
Jesus was not deluded by duality.

"For every woman who will make herself male will enter the kingdom of heaven."
Jesus means it to be understood that Mary is not identified with her form  ( "make herself male").   Mary in   "spirit"   is identical to the male disciples in their true form or   "spirit".
Jesus promises to lead Mary to enlightenment, where she will surrender her worldly identity to realise the singularity, or non-duality, of existence, to become one with the   "kingdom of heaven."
