The Gospel of Thomas (also known as the Coptic Gospel of Thomas) is extra to the canonical gospels in the New Testament of the bible. It was discovered near Nag Hammadi, Egypt, in December 1945 among a group of books known as the Nag Hammadi library. Scholars speculate that the works were buried and hidden after the declaration of a strict canon of Christian scripture, where any works that were not selected for inclusion in the new testament were ordered to be destroyed. Scholars have proposed dates of composition as early as 60 AD and as late as 250 AD as a collection of sayings of Jesus.

Our Commentary on Verse 068 of Thomas Gospel.

These are the secret sayings which the living Jesus spoke and which Didymos Judas Thomas wrote down.

Gospel of Thomas Saying 68 - The persecuted are blessed.
Jesus said, "Blessed are you when you are hated and persecuted. Wherever you have been persecuted they will find no place."

Jesus said, "Blessed are you when you are hated and persecuted”.
Jesus and his teaching were controversial; Therefore, his followers were often victims of abuse from dissenters.
Jesus, speaking to his determined followers, confirms that they are blessed due to their preferring the truth of his teaching to staying at home safe from their persecutors.
The desire to learn the truth will lead the loyal followers to the conscious desire to return home to unity with the Absolute, God. Their true being and place. That is their blessing.

“Wherever you have been persecuted they will find no place."
The haters and persecutors feared the truth of Jesus’ teaching. Haters have their minds closed through fear of challenge and change. This is the suffering caused through the delusions of duality.
The delusion, or illusion of duality cause some to cling to ‘their’ material possessions, ‘their’ life and ‘their’ world. After the death of their body these people likely retain a consciousness limited to material desire. Consequently they “will find no place." Our true being and place is in conscious unity with the Absolute. But, their strongest conscious desire was to continue to experience 'their' material life. They rejected Jesus and his teachings and persecuted his messengers. They have had the life experience they originally desired but have learned nothing. Therefore, they can only retain a consciousness of that original desire which will again lead to this place.
