The Gospel of Thomas (also known as the Coptic Gospel of Thomas) is extra to the canonical gospels in the New Testament of the bible. It was discovered near Nag Hammadi, Egypt, in December 1945 among a group of books known as the Nag Hammadi library. Scholars speculate that the works were buried and hidden after the declaration of a strict canon of Christian scripture, where any works that were not selected for inclusion in the new testament were ordered to be destroyed. Scholars have proposed dates of composition as early as 60 AD and as late as 250 AD as a collection of sayings of Jesus.

Our Commentary on Verse 088 of Thomas Gospel.

These are the secret sayings which the living Jesus spoke and which Didymos Judas Thomas wrote down.

Gospel of Thomas saying 88 - We should give to messengers and prophets.
Jesus said, "The angels and the prophets will come to you and give to you those things you (already) have. And you too, give them those things which you have, and say to yourselves, 'When will they come and take what is theirs?"

Jesus said, "The angels and the prophets will come to you and give to you those things you (already) have”.
We already have all there is to have because our true being is one with the singularity of existence, the Absolute or God.
What we lack is the full consciousness of our true being. This is the result of our original desire to experience the fruits of worldly knowledge. A birth into the world necessitates a limited worldly knowledge.
Jesus the teacher is teaching us the knowledge that already resides in consciousness. Jesus and the “angels” we meet are leading us, in consciousness, to this revelation.

“And you too, give them those things which you have”,
The knowledge of the Absolute or God belongs to all. Or, all are in truth this singularity of knowledge made manifest in consciousness.
Jesus is telling us to teach, or pass on to those who would listen, the knowledge of our divinity that Jesus and the prophets have revealed to us.

“and say to yourselves, 'When will they come and take what is theirs?"
Our conscious experience of life and duality is, as said, not our true being. Our life experience is enabled and supported from the Singularity of true existence, God or the Absolute.
The time will come when the unreality of our duality will end and we will return once again to unity as that Absolute singularity “take what is theirs”
We need to remember and prepare for that day “say to yourselves, 'When will they come.”
