The Gospel of Thomas (also known as the Coptic Gospel of Thomas) is extra to the canonical gospels in the New Testament of the bible. It was discovered near Nag Hammadi, Egypt, in December 1945 among a group of books known as the Nag Hammadi library. Scholars speculate that the works were buried and hidden after the declaration of a strict canon of Christian scripture, where any works that were not selected for inclusion in the new testament were ordered to be destroyed. Scholars have proposed dates of composition as early as 60 AD and as late as 250 AD as a collection of sayings of Jesus.
Our Commentary on Verse 048 of Thomas Gospel.
These are the secret sayings which the living Jesus spoke and which Didymos Judas Thomas wrote down.
Gospel of Thomas Saying 48 - The reality of non-duality, advaita, not two.
Jesus said, "If two make peace with each other in this one house, they will say to the mountain, 'Move Away,' and it will move away."
"If two make peace with each other in this one house”
This is another teaching from Jesus of Non-Duality.
The phrase “this one house” contains the central meaning and importance of this saying.
There is only one “house” deserving of Jesus’ specific mention and that is the house or Kingdom of God.
Jesus does not use idioms or terms like ‘move mountains’ to describe the mundane. When Jesus says “say to the mountain, 'Move Away,' and it will move away." Jesus refers specifically to the power of the Divine.
“We”, as a conscious experience of material life and duality, originally desired this life experience.
Jesus and all the wise sages throughout the ages have told us that our physical forms are not our true being.
Jesus has told us before and is again telling us that our true being and home is in the unity or the singularity with the Kingdom of God. This material realm is unreal and will come to an end. All that truly exists is the immortal singularity of Absolute Knowledge as Consciousness. Our present experience of material duality is as a dream. This dream experience of a life is enabled through consciousness to satisfy original desire. As in all dreams there is no true action.
“they will say to the mountain, 'Move Away,' and it will move away."
Our true being is eternaly known in the Divine singularity of Absolute Consciousness, or God.
So, when the “two make peace” is when we surrender our earthly desires and return home to rest, in consciousness, as the singularity of Consciousness Absolute, or God.
It is Absolute Divine Knowledge that creates, moves and dissolves mountains and universes.
